In the early fall of 2023, The Old Farm Market Courtenay gifted the Courtenay Elementary Community School Society over one thousand seed packages left over from the growing season. It was a generous donation, but what were we going to do with all these seeds?

Handing them out in the fall didn’t seem like a good idea, so we kept them in storage until now. As you can see in the photo below, we gave away most of them on the last day of school before spring break.

There were lots of seeds for families to take home on the final day before spring break!

Fortunately, we were smart enough to set aside some seeds for the seed libraries around the Comox Valley, thanks to the resource of the Comox Valley Little Seed Libraries group on Facebook. And, with some pleasant weather today, we hopped in our car and topped up as many seed libraries as we could with a variety of veggies and herbs!

Thanks again to The Old Farm Market Courtenay for their generosity!

Happy gardening!
