Hot Lunch Program

We cook for kids because children learn better on a full stomach.

Courtenay Elementary Hot Lunch Program

The lunch program runs every day and is available to all students and staff of Courtenay Elementary. All you have to do is login to MunchaLunch and order for specific days. If you prefer paper, you can pick up a form from the school lobby or kitchen, or you can download and print out your order at the bottom of the page and drop it off at school.

The cost of living is hitting everyone hard and we want to help with affordability by offering nourishing and fun lunches on a cost-recovery basis. If finances are tight, please pay what you can. We’ll make sure your child(ren) receives lunch. We will not turn away a hungry child.

We understand that that your child(ren) might not eat the lunch they are served. We’ve noticed a lot of food waste on certain days. This is a result of several factors: being picky, not liking the lunch, using utensils, being distracted by friends, or not having enough time to eat. We don’t want kids to go hungry if they can’t or won’t eat their lunch, but we also don’t have the capacity to provide alternatives. Talk with your child about the lunch options. If you think the lunch you ordered might be a challenge for your child(ren), please be sure to pack extra snacks in their backpacks.

We’ve also noticed a trend in kids dumping their lunches for the lunch being served in the kitchen. They come to us and say that they forgot their lunch when in fact they have one. Please let your child that they should eat their lunch from home first and then check out the snack bowl if they feel they need a little more to eat.

Here is the menu for January 2025.

Please note that there is no lunch service during the first week back to school (January 6-10). Please pack a lunch and snacks for your child(ren) for this week.

We have made changes to the menus for both paper and online ordering. Be sure to choose the correct grade when ordering.

From November 2024, you can now pay what you can on MunchaLunch. When you log in, you’ll see an ordering option to pay $5, $10, or $20. CHOOSE AN OPTION ONCE and then let the community school know if you are ordering for a certain period of time or an entire month!
